Last week we awoke to the tragic news that two of our beneficiaries were killed in a tragic fire accident.Kahemeni Lucia Pistol ( 61) grandmother to Liyema Mbizo (8) tragically died trapped in their hostel room on the 11th August 2013.
We are deeply traumatized by their unexpected death and send our heart felt condolences to their extended family as they were part of the Siyaphambili family.Langa hostels and informal settlements are prone to fire disasters especially in winter because most families use candles and paraffin heaters which are often very unsafe.
Kahemeni Lucia Pistol was an active memeber of our grandmother support group and also often helped out with the food garden which helped her bring back food to her grandchildren. Her granddaughter Liyema Mbizo was actively involved in our after school counseling programmes and Siyaphambili extra mural activities.
The police are still investigating the cause of the fire and will update us and the family as to what might have cuased this senseless death. Siyabulela Primary school ( Liyema Mbizo ) attended, will host a memorial servive next wee thursday on the 27th August 2013 to celebrate the life of Liyemaaa and her grandmother. We will be there to support and also share our fond memories of Liyema and her grandmother.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; who comforts us in all our affliction so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
We aim to create a safe environment of love and hope at Siyaphambili and through this difficult time we will support the family and the children at the home who have been traumatized by these tragic news.Liyema and Kahemeni will be dearly missed at Siyaphambili , may your souls rest in peace as we will not forget your love and warmth.
